He is the past president of the local National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors and has been a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals since 1978.

Doug has been involved in a number of civic and charitable organizations over the years such as Mid-County Rotary, United Way, the Association for the Developmentally Disabled, and Dominican Hospital Foundation. He is a past Cub Scout Master, a Junior Achievement Leader, Board Member of the Big Z Charitable Foundation, and is active in numerous political organizations.

He is a founding board member of Coast Commercial Bank and most recently Lighthouse Bank, past president of the Pasatiempo Home Owners Association, and past president of the Pasatiempo Golf Club.
